OTPF: What is it & why is it important?

The Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF) is a document that explains the occupational therapy practice, and what that entails exactly. This document is important for OT students and OT practitioners to learn about because it describes the interrelated concepts and tools that we use in the practice. The OTPF can also be useful to other healthcare practitioners or researchers who are interested in what OT's focus on and what OT practitioners are concerned about when treating clients.

Hey bloggers! I know you have probably heard someone talk about roles, occupations, activities, and tasks in the field of occupational therapy; and the difference between each of these. If not, I'm sure you will soon. In this post I will be talking about my role in life, the occupations that I find meaningful, and the activities and tasks that go along. I hold a variety of roles in my life that I can identify with. I am a daughter, a sister, a grand-daughter, a friend, and a graduate student. Although I am all of these things, the role that I'm going to share is that of a poet. The occupations of a poet may include attending poetry events or readings, and may even involve sharing the finishing product. I personally do not like to read my poetry aloud or in front of an audience, but I do sometimes like to share my work and even attend a few events. Hey bloggers! I know it has been a while since my last post, so I decided to pop in and say hello! Today I am going to talk to you about something that has maintained true to the identity of occupational therapy. Now, in the OT profession there are certain things that have changed overtime. There have been societal changes, technological advances, and with time comes more ways that the field has to change in order to keep up. I mean, we can't expect to see growth without some change. Right? Although we see changes that occur, there are some things that we won't see change in the field of occupational therapy because they are fundamental roots for which the profession was built on. Occupational therapy strives to hold true to the belief in using a holistic approach in treatment. "What does this mean?, you ask."
